Your first anniversary is a special one indeed. It is one year since you became husband and wife, and there are many things that you can do to make the day special! The following are some tips for a wonderful first anniversary.
Eat that last part of your wedding cake. For many people, it is a tradition to save a little part of their wedding cake in the freezer to eat on the one-year anniversary of their marriage. Of course, you will have to make sure that you have a cake that freezes well and that you have room in your freezer, but it can be very nice and nostalgic to be eating from the same cake that you ate at on that blessed day.
An easier alternative to this would be to save a bottle of champagne or wine from your wedding day and break that open to celebrate.
Obviously, these both need to be planned in advance, but if you haven’t done so you can still recreate it. Go to the bakery where you got your cake and see if you can purchase a small cake for the two of you to share! You could also try to find the same champagne or wine and drink that.
A nice thing to do for the first anniversary would be to visit the place where you got married. If it is a place that serves meals, such as a restaurant in a hotel or a country club, then it might be nice to have a meal there, just like you did on your wedding day! If it is something like a park, it might be nice to walk around and view the place where you took your vows. If your wedding took place at two places (i.e. a religious institution and a hall) then you could visit either or both.
A nice thing to do on your anniversary might be to view your wedding video if you had one made. Many times people have those made and then only view them right after the wedding. It might be a nice tradition to start viewing them on your anniversary to remember!
A very special anniversary could be to try to recreate your honeymoon! This may or may not be feasible depending on what you did. If you took a once in a lifetime African Safari that you can’t easily duplicate then you might want to take a trip to a nearby animal preserve. If you went somewhere not far or you have the ability and means to recreate it, then that could be a special first-anniversary experience!
