We recently caught up with Joe from Spirit of Sound, Niagara’s premiere wedding DJ service. After nearly 30 years in the business and 1000’s of satisfied clients, Spirit of Sound’s reputation for excellence precedes them.  After all, one of the most important and memorable elements of any great wedding reception is the musical entertainment!

What is your specialty?
Weddings are definitely our specialty, but more specifically, weddings that require international and ethnic music and speaking.

What advice would you give to couples investigating DJ services?
The entertainment is one of the most important decisions a couple will have to make as it pertains to their wedding reception. Check recommendations, doing thorough homework and picking a DJ that is reputable, fully licensed and insured.

What is the consultation process with your clients?
We generally meet with our clients 3 times. The 1st is the complimentary consultation at our office, the 2nd is the actual contract signing and the 3rd is the final consultation which takes place about a month before the actual wedding date.  We take pride in custom tailoring each event to suit our client’s needs.

What makes Spirit of Sound stand out from the crowd?
Our 30 years of experience and the outstanding reputation we have in the wedding industry. The major advantage we offer is that we’re about more than just providing music ... our DJ’s are interactive and deliver a truly unique entertainment experience.

Talk about trends in music for this wedding season.
Wedding music trends continue to favor a high demand for urban, modern dance and R & B. The retro sound of the 70’s and 80’s also continues to pack dance floors. Slow dance songs from crooners such as Michael Buble are also big on the request lists of our clients.

What is currently the most requested dance song?
The most requested song this year has to be “I Gotta Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas.  My personal favorite song is our company’s theme song “Simply the Best” by Tina Turner.

What’s on your iPod?
I enjoy most genres of music with a lot of old school from the 70’s and 80’s!

Share a memorable wedding story with us.
Having been in the wedding music business for almost 30 years, I had the pleasure of DJing a wedding for a client back in 1984. Well, just last year, I had the pleasure of Djing the wedding of that client’s daughter. It seems that everything is coming full circle for Spirit of Sound.
