John and Larissa Barn Wedding in Niagara

ALSO FILED UNDER > Wedding Décor, Wedding Flowers, Wedding Photography

It was the pair of Fluevog shoes that caught my eye... and then I scrolled through all of the rest of the lovely details!!! Thank you Green Autumn Photography for sending us this lovely little Niagara wedding Feature. A barn and a sweet little chapel... the perfect combo for this outdoorsy couple!

And the award for most original date idea goes to John and Larissa! For their first date, the couple attended a flying trapeze class at the Toronto School of Circus Arts. There's nothing quite like wearing spandex to break the ice.

This adventurous and active pair loves outdoors activities like hiking and climbing. As a matter of fact, John proposed while the two were rock-climbing. For these two, a wedding that incorporated their love of the outdoors was a must. Balls Falls Barn was a perfect choice for a rustic-casual-chic celebration. A simple barn and chapel, set on a beautiful conservation area in the heart of Niagara's wine region.

Planning along they way, they took a simple approach, focusing on their personalities, hobbies and faves, rather than the trends. With her gorgeous red hair, the bride has learned what colours compliment her best and this was to be a (refreshingly) pink-free wedding. Planning the florals was exciting, incorporating warm colours and some out of the ordinary blooms, inspired by the bride's favourite wardrobe pieces and the fall season, lots of greenery and garland and even touches of wheat. She looked stunning on the wedding day in her custom wedding gown and show-stopping unstructured bouquet.

The couple worked on several DIY projects like their succulent wedding favours, ribbon decor for outside the small ceremony chapel, and their awesome cake topper. KJ and Co. sourced talented vendors and details to fit their rustic aesthetic, like the neat modern-rustic guestbook poster from Etsy. There were rustic vintage pieces that fit well with the barn venue as well. They enjoyed a gourmet dinner as bride and groom at an antique sweetheart table, set in front of the draped barn doors.

To surprise their guests, Larissa and John practiced for weeks and weeks with a choreographer in order to perform a first-dance tango under the string lighting in the barn.

A little Alice in wonderland inspiration at a cozy winery ceremony and reception... thank you Darling Mine for sending this over!

From the photographer: While the weather may not have cooperated fully, it never put a damper on their obvious love for one another. They met beneath the covered bridge for their first look.  The rain was a good excuse to get married in the cozy downstairs space at Hernder's-it was just as an intimate as the barrel room was for a few of their photos. Guests were welcomed upstairs for the reception where they were greeted by amazing decor and details by Anne & Co. With an Alice In Wonderland feel, the room was filled with books and clocks and lovely florals from Wine Country Florals.

Enjoy!

We’ve been looking for weddings that feature this year’s pantone colour of the year…a beautiful rich Marsala colour.  The bouquets were created by Lush Florals and the photography by JF Hannigan Photography.

Aleksandra and Nick wanted their day to reflect their very relaxed nature.  Not too frilly, not overly traditional with just slight touches of interesting detail.  For flowers Aleksandra wanted a large garden inspired bridal bouquet in neutral shades but for the gals... a bold pop of colour-shades of Marsala with gold sequined accents.  The church service was Ukrainian Catholic and simply breathtaking in the cathedral-the florals coordinated perfectly with the cathedral. The simplicity of the crowns used in a traditional Ukranian Catholic ceremony are different from what you typically see.

Aleksandra and Nick celebrated with their friends and family with a reception held at Chateau de charmes decorated with draping and chandeliers by Simply Beautiful. Centerpieces mimicked the garden style bouquets with gold accents. Beautiful work by Niagara's finest wedding vendors!

Congratulations Aleksandra and Nick!

Deanna and Michael...I think it's safe you had the wedding that you dreamed of...elegant, romantic and classic!  Congratulations!! There is nothing greater than working with a team of professionals that work so well together! Niagara is home to many gorgeous wedding venues and Gemini Photography photographed this one so beautifully! The bride, Deanna, had some lovely things to say about the team that made this happen...

'Our wedding was a day we will certainly never forget! We were having guests in attendance from all over the USA and Canada, so we really wanted to give everyone an experience of a lifetime. We wanted a wedding that was elegant, romantic, and classic. Our venue Chateau Des Charmes was particularly special to us as we got engaged there and fell in love with all the character and charm this venue had to offer.

We were so lucky to have had a stellar team of vendors that not only nailed our vision, but worked so collaboratively to pull it off.

Cathy Martin Flowers worked closely with us to create the most exquisite floral arrangements using beautiful garden roses to compliment the venue, linens and dresses.
Simply Beautiful Decor's use of drapery and other touches elevated a simple white tent to a whole other level. The team at Gemini Photography blew us away with their talent for capturing every moment in such a perfect way.
Thinking back, by far one of our favourite parts of the day was the fireworks put on by Garden City Display Fireworks. What a special surprise!!'
