Russian Winter Wedding Creative Shoot
ALSO FILED UNDER > Swish Loves This!
Planned, designed and styled by Amanda Cowley Sweet Events and inspired by the Sochi Winter Olympics, a team of uber talented local wedding vendors pulled out all the stops envisioning this Russian themed 'Winter Ballerina' wedding!
Russia. Winter. Ballerinas. What more could you ask for!?
On a cold winter's day, along the shore of a very frozen Niagara River JF Hannigan Photography captured the blistery cold day perfectly!
With the endless inspiration that comes to mind when one thinks of Russia, the team incorporated countless magical details to create design worthy of its own Olympic event!
Starting with a feminine palette of blush pink, frosted whites and silvery powder blue, Lush Florals and Events added hits of deep ruby red which gave all of the florals a rich boldness that helped make everything that surrounded them perfectly pop with colour! From the natural, free-form bridal bouquet, to the eclectic table pieces, the florals helped carry the Russian theme throughout every aspect of this shoot.
A sweet and lovely dessert table created by Candy by Katie showcased all kinds of wintery wonderland treats! Rock candy, caramel corn, powdery donuts, frosty cupcakes and an elegant white-on-white antler adorned cake. To infuse just a touch of 'ballerina-ness' the team created an installation of hanging pointe shoes bursting with flowers!
It wouldn't be a ballerina theme without layers upon layers of tulle, and, with the most perfect gown, the bride was an ethereal vision in white! Her structured high bun wrapped in fishtail braids and a flushed-yet-natural look for makeup was created by Allure Hair and MakeUp. A real life ice princess!
Glass elements and ghost chairs added to the icy-wintery feel, juxtaposed with blush satin linens and warm and cozy faux fur table runner, Gala Decor Wedding and Event Design wove it all together in perfect winter harmony!
The talented team of vendors that pulled this Russian Ballerina Winter Wonderland dream together includes a who's who of Swish List wedding vendors:

Vineyard Wedding at Inn on the Twenty (by Mimosa Flower Studio)
One of the great joys of living and working in Niagara is getting to do weddings right out in the vineyards, amongst the year’s budding vintage! The talented team at Mimosa Flower Studio will tell you it’s one of their favourite places to stage nuptials!
This particular couple were married up in the Cave Spring Vineyard headlands in a lovely traditional Greek ceremony ... well, as traditional as you can be while getting married in a vineyard!
The colour palette for this wedding featured predominately pale pink, blush and white offset with some fresh hits of spring green and silver/grey.
Florals included lamb’s ear, peonies, garden roses and gardenias with lavender foliage, clematis vine, mock orange and sprigs of mint from the Mimosa Flower Studio organic cutting gardens!

Spring Engagement Session in Niagara Orchard by Nataschia Wielink Photo + Cinema
From the photographer: “There is something to be said about the way the Niagara region bursts into fields of cotton candy pink and fresh white blossoms each spring, and there really is no better way to showcase Mother Nature’s delicious showing of colour, than with a beautiful engagement session and a couple who are clearly madly in love ...”

Kathy and Dave
Nothing brightens up a November Niagara wedding quite like these pink bridal bouquets created by the uber talented Jennifer at Mimosa Flower Studio. We love the dramatic colour palette of this wedding!
Kathy and Dave were married in the afternoon and invited their guests to a dinner reception at a local golf course and winery. In between the “I do” and dinner, pictures were taken in downtown St. Catharines and at Decew Falls.
Things we love about their wedding - the classic black bridesmaids dresses bought off the rack at RW&Co. (great find!), the feather in Kathy’s hair and the twirling little flower girl, Kate. So cute!
Dave and Kathy ... perfect for each other! Your wedding was so Swish ... thanks for letting us share in your day!
